Need help getting a wireless internet signal..?
I just got a new laptop... and I live across the street from Starbucks, but I can't get a connection to their internet. I was curious if there was some kind of booster, that would extend my radius. Perhaps 1/2 a mile? maybe 3/4 mile?
Don't just tell me to get my own internet. I have my own internet. I would rather get a booster than a router. So, then my internet will have a better radius anywhere I go.

my neighbour is my friend and hes letting me use his wireless till i the cable guy comes out to install my internet.
so i how can i boost my wireless, i dont think you can build a cantana because wireless uses two diffrent signals (i might be wrong) but is there a wire that i could hook up to the male side and plug it into the female antena so i can can the antena farther away and closer to the router across the street.
my pci card has two antenas btw if that helps
Your two antennas will be set up as one for send and one for receive.
The problem is that by "can"tenna-ing your end you will gain nothing, the can modification needs to be applied at the router side to provide a more focussed signal in order for you to gain any improvement.
Analogy:
It's raining, and you put a big dish outside to collect the rain. Then you decide to make a more focussed receptacle, and so you use a tin can instead. All you are doing is limiting your area of collection of the rain "signal", and in fact you get less water as a result. However if you turn on a hosepipe and point it at the dish you get a much more focussed source even though the actual water content passing through the hose is the same as the amount of water coming down in the rain.
