What kind of crowd should I expect at Cedar Point on Saturday Oct. 20th for Halloweekends?
Hey everyone,
I'm planning on going to Cedar Point next Saturday the 20th(hopefully the weather cooperates) and was wondering how crowded the place might be on the 2nd to last Saturday of the season? I've never been there except during mid-summer so I have no idea what to expect.
Also, as of now the forecast all next week in Sandusky is rain, rain, and more rain. If there is no rain coming down, but it's been raining all week and conditions are soggy, will the top rides be open? I know Top Thrill Dragster never operates if there is a raindrop falling due to its speed, but I'm wondering if they will run the big rides if it's been raining and conditions are damp. Thanks!
It shouldn't be too busy. The reason it was slammed last weekend (October 6) was due to Columbus Day. Government, banking and tons of other workers received Monday off and many schoolchildren got either the Friday before or the Monday after off. The Parking lot was pretty much solid. In fact my dad's boss from 45 miles south of here drove up, paid his parking, drove around the lot for a half hour then went home, it was so slammed.
The rain is going to put some people off and they'll just plan on coming the next weekend. With Geauga Lake now closed ad infinitum some extra tourists will make there way up north. If it has rained all week but not the day off your trip the rides should be open (barring too high wind speed). Remember these are steel tracks so once it stops raining it dries pretty quick, the grass might be sodden with water but the coasters won't be.
As the other poster advised show up at the gate a little before opening (12 noon) and stay all day. If you get in line for a ride just before the park closes you still get to ride that ride. So my advice would be to get in line for either Top Thrill, Millennium, or Maverick at the very beginning of the day. If you want to ride all three go to another one just after that. If you are only interested in two and Millennium is one of them save Millennium for just before closing. That ride is so awesome at night (Dragster is over in 17 seconds and you Maverick throws you all over Heck's half acre).
BTW, if you need lodging get a room at Motel 6 in Milan, OH (9 miles south of the park). They have wifi, coffee, lobby computer for guest use, and a coupon strip for area businesses and eateries.
