That is an awfully good question. I have been to the races in Vegas in October and April and in Denver two weeks ago. There were very few people that I noticed were really out of hand drunk. I do NOT, for one, drink and every race was an awesome experience without too many idiots. Then again, drinkers will look for any excuse to party! I can't imagine drinking and not remembering every second of that burning rubber and nitro!!!!!

Home-made Raft "Hydrodynamic" Design Question?
We have built a Home-made raft I intend on racing against another team. Currently our design is made up of barrells and held together with wood braces (you can see a pic at Http://www.flickr.com/photos/dantrons ). We are unsure if we should make a cone like structure at the front to 'cut' the water (reducing drag) when we power through. Do you think this will make a difference? Or will be not be travelling fast enough to make any real gains by adding a cone piece on the front to cut the water?

One of the big drag factors on rafts is the turbulence of the wake. That slows you down quite a bit. You'd do well to put cones on both ends and make the sides as smooth as you can. Push it through the water, and play around with it until you can get it's impact on the water as minimal as possible.
