why do they call it drag racing?
I LOVE drag racing it's my favorite sport in the world but I've always wondered why we call it drag racing?
Not sure, but maybe because the main purpose of the cars are to accelerate, and therefore fight drag. In other forms of race, traction is the limiting factor, but because you are only going straight in drag races, you can put massive tires on, but drag is still a major issue. The faster you go, the more drag there is, and weight is constant. So, really, the largest force that must be overcome is drag.
