I remember riding around in the “hot rods” of the early 60's and when Link's music came on the radio; it represented an exhilarating change in American culture. His music quickly became part of a new wave of music “rock and roll” and the changing times that America was going through. He is embedded in my mind as a major part of the rock and roll foundation. I still, to this day get a thrill listening to his music, as it has stood strong, against the test of time. My deceased uncle Roy Buchanan is another great guitar player that influenced many commercially successful guitar players, that are in the hall. I don’t think Roy stands a chance,

From a motorcycle point of view Ricer spawned out of "Rice Rocket" Japanese sportbike riders in the 70s. In cars it's more tilted toward typically young guys who put ridiculous body kits, wheels, and coffee can exhaust tips on small asian imports then drive like idiots. Racers are racers. They might have some aero parts and engine mods but save the fast driving for the track. Ricers are generally considered wannabes by old school racers. That isn't to say $15K of the right mods doesn't make a "ricer", as in small asian import, also a very decent racer. However, in common perception the ricer has $15K in high end audio gear and body kits while the racer has a stock AM/FM radio and a reworked engine and suspension. I see racers all the time, many in small imports like Miatas and many of them you wouldn't tell from Joe Blow except they have tape numbers on the doors driving down the freeway near the track on club day. The general perception is if you're pouring a ton of money into more looks and sound on a small asian import car you're a ricer, not a racer. Racing is about going and turning, most of those mods you can't see and won't let you play J-Pop tunes loud enough to register on the richter scale.
