what gear should you be in if you are racing a manual transmission and you are on the line?
in order to make a manual trasmission car jump off the line if you are drag racing what gear are you in while you are siting on the line and what gear do you shift into first to get a faster jump off to beat a automatic car
1st gear. Its the best gear to "launch" the car, get it moving, get the RPMs up, and then quickly shift into 2nd gear.
However, this all depends on being able to get traction or "hook" as its called at the track. Without that you're just spinning your wheels.

We checked online, and other Renault Scenic's the same age with MORE kilometers and automatic transmission were going for around 6,000 euros. So we got by cheap with this car, mainly since it's fitted for a handicapped person. Other options, not a lot. We wanted something about this size, and automatic transmission. Automatics, at least in this neck of the woods, are just becoming popular/trendy so one ends up almost paying through the nose for one.

I would purchase the latter because I live in Los Angeles, California where the traffic is horrible, and what is worse than having an automatic transmission in traffic is having a manual in traffic.
