Drag Wheel Why does my hamster keep making a bed in his wheel?
My hamster keeps taking his pine bedding from the bottom of his cage and putting it in his wheel. I have to clean out his wheel everyday because when he runs in it he leaves the bedding in it and it makes a clanking sound that drives me crazy. He has a huge cage to himself and he has a huge bottom floor area where he coule make a bed. He even has a little hamster loft where I put extra bedding in, just so he can sleep there. However, he keeps dragging bedding up to his wheel (plastic) and keeps making a bed there. Why does he keep doing this?
The best thing to do would be to get one of those mini igloos from your local pet shop for him to sleep him. Rodents LOVE sleeping in small, warm places as it makes them feel safe and they can hide from big faces peeping at them . Your hamster is probably just looking for a nice place to rest his head. (If you don't want to buy him an igloo you can always find something similar lying around the house, so long as there is no danger to you hamster involved)
