How do you do these Physics Problems!?!?!?
PLease i need to learn how to do these not just the answers please quick
1) in getting ready to dunk a ball, a basketball player starts from rest and sprints to a speed of 6m/s in 1.5s. Assuming that the playyer accelerates uniformly, determine the distance he runs.
2) a VW beetle goes from 0 to 60 mi/h with an acceleration of +2.35 m/s^2. How much time does it take for the beetle to reach this speed? A top-fuel dragster can go from 0 to 60 mi/h in .6000s. Find the acceleration in m/s^2 of the dragster.
Please help... i have a test soon and i don't know how to do this. HUrry please help
For the first problem you would need to apply the formula Speed = Distance/time. Substitute in the known variables; speed & time, then solve for distance.
6m/s = d/1.5s
90 m = d
For the second you would need to apply the formula
Acceleration = (Final velocity - initial velocity)/time
Again, substitute in the knowns.....the only problem is that the units are not the same, so you need to convert mi/hr to m/s first, then solve for t.
2.35m/s^2= (60 mi/hr - 0 mi/hr)/t
The same acceleration formula would apply for the last one as well, first converting mi/hr to m/s. Substitute in the knowns and solve for acceleration.
