Please HELP - Friend selling me a Mountain Bike?
this 2002 specialized stumpjumper PRO . its got a sid sl fork up front. full xt componets except back deraliar is xtr. the crank set is a specialized strong arm 2. witch is equvilent to xt. brakes are avid speed dial singal digit ti brakes. up graded sadel to s-works sadal. handelbars are monkey lite carbon fiber. and the best for last bontrager race lite wheel set. chris king hubs.bontrager ceramic rims. this is the lightest wheel set on the planet. it retailed for about $1299.00 when i got them. the bike cost me about $1400.00.before up grades. handelbar , wheels and sadal. plus time pedels.
GOOD CONDITION.... Asking $800. Is this to much? What is a reasonable price for this bike? Thank you for your help.

$800 seems very reasonable, unless it has a ton of miles on the drivetrain.
If it has been at all maintained, and is cosmetically attractive it could go anywhere from $600-1000.
M R is right.... Nice wheel set, smart saddle upgrade, good quality components overall. Kind of depends on the rider, and how much abuse it took.
It's hard to sell a used bike. This would be an excellent ride for someone new to the sport. It's a lot of bike to grow into.
As for a new ride, I personally would sty away from Trek and Specialized, but that totally depends upon your budget. They are fine, but you have little opporntunity to customize. I am a big fan of Santa Cruz myself.

Momo + E-brake on Logitech G27 & custom GT5 cockpit
so, i've got a 2000 Impreza...?
and i want to upgrade it. right now it's all stock. so i was thinking about doing the following mods:
-install a supercharger
-hi perf. filter
-hi perf. tires w/ custom wheels
-hi perf. brake pads
-new exhaust w/ high flow converter/turbo muffler
are there any aspects i'm leaving out or do these sound like good mods?

excellent choice if you ask me! I have a 2001 2.5rs..I had an 04 WRX and 06 WRX before my 2.5rs and I have a lot more fun with it than the newer imprezas. Your car is most definitely not a piece of junk. With the gc8 body your rolling 500lbs lighter than all the newer model imprezas. If you're going to rock the stock motor start with refreshing the motor. Forged pistons, rods, head studs, good head gasket. Don’t forget new timing belts. Slap a turbo kit with appropriate upgrades that go with that. That will be enough to spank most any STI or EVO you come across. Just for good measure you should consider upgrading your trans. with some RA gears if your going to boost the car. The stock trans wasn’t built for that kind of power.
