hot rods How are the windshield and other glass problems handled when making a chop top hot rod?
I am very curious about hot rods, chop tops in particular. Does all the glass have to be custom made and how expensive and exhausting a process is that?
Yes, they are custom made unless you buy the kits that have the flat windshields. The chrome ones that have the small glass in them, But those are for open tops or soft top convertible. The side windows if they roll down can just be rolled down a bit. The back glass try to make it flat to reduce cost. Side windows that do not open are usually flat glass anyhow and does not cost a lot. Those curved custom windows I would look on the internet for some good glass cutter shops so that you can make sure they have a tight fit. You dont want them to leak. Unless of course you are making an open top. Then you would only need the windshield.

My father moved way out here (Horsehoe Bend…outside Weatherford, Texas) 13 years ago because it has an airpark and he loves to fly, but also because he likes quiet and to contemplate Nature. I have been staying with him for 8 months now, and just in that time, it has really changed here. A family has moved in behind the house and the man works on hot-rods in the hangar they have, revving the motors at top decibels. And just next door (where a friend of Dad lived, but died recently), some family member of theirs comes every weekend with 4-wheelers, and rides them like dune buggys all over his property and “The Bend” with his nephew. I feel for my Dad…he is such a lover of Nature and not noise! So…we commisserate, Kate!
No Noel, I don't think it's contradictory to say we need some new events in Bright and then to say we shouldn't become too 'events focused'. It's just a matter of finding the right balance. As it is, we have too few internally-generated events and they are the ones we SHOULD be pursuing, as they build customer loyalty. Whereas externally arranged events like Audax & Hot Rods can be fickle.
But I think even the Summernats would find Wandi a bit too 'down market'.
If you let me pick between the Ferrari and the woody, I’d have to think about it. Of course the Ferrari would win, but I’d still have to think about it. Thank goodness car enthusiasts don’t cut up those beautiful old Alfas and similar cars to make hot rods.
Hi, JT here. Thanks for visiting my Drag Race Car site. Hope you find what you're looking for...there's tons of information and links here. Feel free to leave comments or drop me a line.
You can say that it's a 50 year old car but it isn't. Like he said only thing left original is the body.
