Nascar Drag Does any NASCAR fan know what YAW means?
I'm doing a school assignment on NASCAR and i came across some info that has to do with YAW and i ain't sure what it means and can't find anything about it on the internet. For example of my project:
with the labs equipment each model was measured from six areas: lift, drag, side force, YAW, pitch and rolling movement.
hope this helps with my question about YAW.
Yaw is a lateral force measured about the vertical axis - in other words, the force that causes the back end of the car to fishtail.

It is called drafting, and it is impossible to draft effectively on the highway without not only tailgating but disappearing from the mirrors of the truck driver. Why? Because you have to be somewhere between half a car length and a full car length behind to get a proper draft. It is exremely dangerous, not to mention illegal.
Anything racing that is NOT NASCAR, drag racing or monster trucks has to be better. I had a chance to go to a Nextel Cup event at Watkins Glen VIP passes and all free, two weeks from now, and I turned it down. Ugly, boring cars, and even if stock car drivers drivers can actually turn right, is still not what I want to spend time watching.
Jim, I remember you saying to me many years ago after we went to a Showroom Stock event at Lime Rock, “You can see what's happening, but not feel what's happening.” To a large extent that still holds true. Like watching pretty much all sports, seeing cars go 'round in circles, even if it's a road race, is still not all that exciting.
