Rim Spacers
Ford escape wheel spacers?
Hey ,
i got 265/35r22 tires on my escape and i need spacers for the rims so they dont rub on the carriage and i was wondering if aluminum would be ok from a hgih end brand such as Eibach or H&R and what woudl you reccomend? 15mm or 25mm for a tire on the escape. TIres i got on it now are i beleive 245 or 235/70r16.

Wheel spacers of any type are not a good idea. They loosen up over a period of time and most people don't take the time to remove the wheels to re-torque the spacers. If you just have to have them, make sure you use a torque wrench, not just an impact wrench. The aluminum spacers are the worst for coming loose and using an impact wrench on anything aluminum will not tighten the lug nuts all the way. The hammer action of the impact gets absorbed by the aluminum resulting in insufficient tightening. The offset on the rims from the spacer usually cause premature failure of the wheel bearings do to the extra leverage from the extension.
