  I'm reminded of that movie with Michael Douglass where he plays the President. At one point, he is being smeared by Richard Dryfuss' character, one of Douglass aids asks him to speak. He likens it to a cup of clean water to his opponents dirty water. Douglass, 'the President', replies " the truth is that the people don't know the difference.

  you seem not to understand what a geek is, anyways…
  The earth doesn't collapse into the sun because the weight of the debris is minuscule relative to the earth. The earths orbit around the sun is effectively the earth travelling in a straight line but with the suns mass warping space-time causing the effective perception that the earth is circling it… (probably quite hard to understand) the best way to explain it is by imagining a rubber sheet (held off the ground) in the middle of which you place a heavy object like a cannon ball (the sun). if you then take something like a marble you can roll it and it will "orbit" the cannon ball (eventually it will hit the cannon ball this btw is not the case with the earth as the marble has the friction of air and the sheet there is virtually no friction in space), you could make the marble heavier and it would stay closer to the centre (or you would have to roll it faster) this will be the case with the earth although again relative to the earth the debris that hits it s nothing.
  (my only problem with this theory is that with the cannon ball the earths gravity is required the same SHOULD be needed on the larger scale)

  For the other question I am not really sure exactly what happens to the debris that goes into the sun in any physical sense, effectively it would be vaporised.
  Space debris however is not the fuel for stars, stars produce their energy from nuclear fusion, a star at first for example will turn 4Hydrogen elements in to one Helium (not 100% on the actual amount i think its right though) the helium element is lighter than the hydrogen's with the difference in mass being converted to energy. (thanks to einstein we know that energy and mass are two different forms of the same thing)(E=MC2, energy=mass multiplied by the speed of light squared i.e. the total energy contained in a 1kg weight =1 joule times the speed of light in meters per second (in a vacuum) (which is just under 300 million) squared 1X300,000,000squared=90000000000000000 Joules in just 1kg of anything.)Basically the sun is creating that much energy every time it looses that (1Kg) mass from the nuclear fusion process, the process also works for so long with other elements until the process would take up energy, in large stars this results in a build up of iron which collapses and causes a supernova.

  for smaller stars like our sun they will grow immensely in size and heat up as their own smaller gravity isn't enough to keep its size in check as it starts using helium as its main source of energy (helium fusion has much more of a differential in mass therefore more energy) the sun will eventually grow to over 200 times its current size and loose its outer layers due to a lack of gravity and become a white dwarf.

  as for the dark matter think the fact is scientists know almost nothing about it, it seems to have a gravitational impact of normal matter (as stars on the outer edges of galaxies should be orbiting to fast to stay in orbit) but it doesn't interact with us i.e. it would pass right through you.
